Good Friday

Happy Friday friends. I wanted to share a farm update but instead I felt compelled to share about Good Friday. The significance of this day can easily get overshadowing by the celebration of Easter. Good Friday is the day we reflect on the price that Jesus paid for our sins. On this day we remember the pain, suffering, and torment that Jesus went through. A perfect, sin-less Jesus paid the penalty for my sin and yours. Why do we so often forget the cross?

I find that in Christianity we primarily focus on two things. Hell or Love. I have been to churches where every Sunday you were yelled at and questioned your salvation with every single alter call. I have also been to churches that forget to preach the Gospel because they don't want to offend anyone. Honestly I don't think either is healthy. The Gospel is so much more than that. It is love, grace, redemption, wrath, justice, mercy, hope, joy, and much more. Christ died for us. Let me say that again... Christ died for us, for you and for me. He knows everything about us. He knows the decisions we will make, the sin we will commit, the accomplishments we will achieve. All of it. And He still died for us.

If I am honest I never really understood this. Why would Jesus die for me? Who am I? I am not worthy. I am not deserving of his love, mercy, grace, etc. Until one day I came face to face with the reality of my sin and the weight of it all. Literally lying on the floor of my closet, hyperventilating and crying out for forgiveness. I don't deserve forgiveness. BUT GOD.

Those two simple words have changed the way I view so much in my life. I could be on a train wreck path, but God. I could be headed straight to hell, but God. I could be abandoned, but God. Y'all those two words bring me chills. So many things in my life would be different, but God had other plans.

That is why the cross is so significant. Without the cross, without the death of Jesus there would be no resurrection. There would be no fulfillment of his promise. There would be no hope. There would be no forgiveness. There would be no reason to celebrate Easter. My prayer as I hit publish on this post is that you will see the love that God has for you, you will feel the weight of sin, acknowledge your sin, repent and seek Jesus.

Easter is the celebration of Jesus' resurrection and the fulfillment of His promise. Easter is a day of joy! Our Savior has risen! Jesus has paid our debt. We can have a relationship with Jesus Christ our Lord!

1 Peter 2:24 He himself bore our sins in his body on the tree, that we might die to sin and live to righteousness. By his wounds you have been healed. John 3:16-17 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him.

Romans 5:6-10

For while we were still weak, at the right time Christ died for the ungodly. For one will scarcely die for a righteous person—though perhaps for a good person one would dare even to die— but God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us. Since, therefore, we have now been justified by his blood, much more shall we be saved by him from the wrath of God. For if while we were enemies we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much more, now that we are reconciled, shall we be saved by his life.

1 Corinthians 1:18

For the word of the cross is folly to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God.

I Peter 3:18

For Christ also suffered once for sins, the righteous for the unrighteous, that he might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh but made alive in the spirit.

How can I pray for you this week?
